A PENZANCE store that sold alcohol to children has had its licence revoked.

Mick’s Convenience Store in Market Jew Street, has been banned from selling booze after an investigation by Trading Standards and the police.

A licence review heard owner Amrik Singh had sold alcohol to under-age people three times in five months, twice as a result of a test purchasing operation carried out by the authorities, and had previously sold alcohol to someone who was drunk.

“The review committee agreed that the actions of Mr Singh undermined the licensing objective of the protection of children from harm, making this a very serious matter,” said a spokeswoman for Cornwall Council.

Mr Singh has 21 days to appeal against the ban.
