A man has been seriously injured after being accidentally shot in the chest with an air rifle in Cornwall.
Police said two men were conducting target practice at a farm in Perranporth when the incident occurred on Saturday evening.
Ambulance crews were called to the scene at around 7pm after one of the men suffered a gun shot wound to the chest.
He was taken to Treliske Hospital but has since been transferred to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.
His condition was initially described as critical, however it has now been confirmed he is “stable”.
Devon and Cornwall Police stated the incident was a “genuine accident”.
The firearm was seized as a matter of routine, but officers said it would be returned to the owner as the incident was found to be a genuine accident which took place on private land.
