CORNWALL’S population rose by an estimated 32,300 people between 2001 and 2011.
The data, which was collected as part of the 2011 national census, shows that Cornwall’s population grew by 6.5 percent to 532,300 from half a million people in 2000.
The Isles of Scilly’s population grew by an estimated 100 people to 2,200 people during the same period, a rise of 4.8 per cent.
The biggest population rise in the South West was in Swindon, where the population ballooned by 16.2 per cent from 180,100 to 209,200.
Further census details will be released later in the year in November.
