Two ponies found dead, Carharrack
Police in Cornwall are investigating the deaths of two Shetland ponies at Carharrack near Redruth.
The ponies were found dead in their field at around 1030 hours this morning, Sunday 24 June 2012 by their owners who had gone to feed them.
Extensive local enquiries and searches are being conducted and these will continue into the afternoon and evening.
Enquiries are also being made to ascertain exactly how the ponies died.
Commented investigating officer, DI Pete Simms: “It would appear that the ponies were killed in a deliberate act.
“However, whilst we are keeping an open mind, we do not believe that there is any link with the recent horse death at Stithians.
“We would appeal to all members of the local community and, in particular, horse owners for information about this incident.
“It is important that they remain vigilant and report any suspicious incident or activity to the Police.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police on 101, or Crimestoppers in confidence on 0800 555 111, quoting reference DCP-20120624-0314.
