SUNSHINE beamed on the community of Cubert on Tuesday when the village school hosted its jubilee celebrations.

More than 130 children from the school and pre-school were joined by teachers, staff, parents, grandparents and residents to join in a picnic on the school field.

Music was provided by a string quartet from the Cornwall Music Service, there was a Punch and Judy show and a buffet lunch provided by the school’s caterers, Chartwells.

Head teacher Karen Brown said: “It was a really lovely afternoon. The weather was absolutely brilliant and it was great to see the whole community brought together.

“The children enjoyed sitting on their rugs in the field eating their picnic and we all enjoyed the music and entertainment.

“A big thank you also to the school’s PTA for providing wonderful refreshments and cream teas.

Miss Brown also presented each child with a commemorative diamond jubilee coin.
